LETTERS to survive summer

The first summer without them is devastating.

The second is lonely in a different way.

Wherever you are you don't have do it alone.

This hour long workshop is for women who have lost a spouse or partner and are dreading the summer ahead.

I'll guide you through writing a letter to another woman on the workshop, someone who knows exactly how the long evenings and empty Sundays feel.

And in return, a letter will land on your doormat from someone on the workshop, in her own words, written just for you.

Join me on Zoom on Sunday 19th July and let's write together.

Inside this Letter Writing Workshop, you’ll:

✴ Spend a cosy Sunday morning with me, Caroline, and other women who are walking the same path as you

✴ Write a letter with guidance every step of the way - no experience needed

✴ Receive a letter back through your letterbox, from a woman who gets it

Date: Sunday 19th July 2026

Time: 11am

Places: 20

Cost: £3.95

What the workshop is.

If the thought of summer is filling you with dread, the long evenings, the holidays, the laughter in the sunshine that belongs to everyone else except you and your person, this workshop is for you.

In this hour together I'll guide you through writing a letter to another woman on the workshop. Someone who understands without you having to explain a single thing.

You'll post yours to my PO Box. She'll post hers. No addresses shared, ever.

And a few days later, something personal will land on your doormat. From her, to you.

Spend an hour with me and other women on a Sunday morning

Write a beautiful letter with guidance every step of the way, no experience needed

Pop your letter in the post box afterwards and receive one back through your letterbox, from a woman who gets it (all covered by the £3.95 you've already paid)

Why I understand

how hard the summers really are.

3 weeks is all it took for my life to change.

I took my partner, Paul, into hospital because we thought he had a bad infection and simply needed a strong dose of antibiotics.

Week 1 We found out that no amount of antibiotics was going to cure cancer.

Week 2 His cancer was incurable

Week 3 He died

Here's what I found after he died...

❤️ Summer is a time to spend with your family, your loved ones.

❤️ Summer nights without them is lonely.

❤️ Summer's make you realise just how much you have lost.

I try to keep myself busy, but end up doing housework or menial tasks and then resent the fact that I am now doing all these tasks on my own.

This wasn't the future I had planned, and I'm sure it wasn't the future you had planned either!

It's lonely and it hurts which is why I want to share an hour with you, my new family, brought together from loss.

The workshop takes place on Sunday 19th July at 11am so you do have somewhere to be and you do have plans and you won't be alone.

At the end of the workshop you will have written a beautiful letter, and a few days later you will receive a beautiful letter in exchange from someone who understands how long the weekends really are when you're dealing with such great loss.

Introducing

Letters to Survive Summer

Step 1

We meet on Zoom at 11am (UK time)

Cameras on or off - it's completely your choice.

No pressure to speak, no introductions.

Just show up as you are.

Step 2

I'll share how writing letters has helped me in my grief.

Step 3

We write together.

I'll give you some gentle prompts. Then I'll give you space and quiet to write.

There's no right way to do this and nothing you write is wrong.

Step 4

You choose what happens next.

At the end of the workshop, you'll have a letter and a choice.

No pressure or obligation, whatever feels right for you on the day.

Post your letter and receive a letter back.

Or keep your letter

STILL NOT SURE?

Have A Question?

Question 1: What if I can't make it on the day?

Life happens and grief especially has a way of making plans difficult. If you can't make it, please drop me an email ([email protected]) and we'll sort something out. I will be running these workshops regularly and I'll make sure you're not out of pocket.

Question 2: Do I have to send my letter afterwards?

Absolutely not. The letter is yours. At the end of the workshop I'll share your options, but there is no pressure whatsoever.

Question 3: My writing is terrible, can I type it instead?

Of course. What matters is that something personal goes into the envelope, not that it has perfect handwriting

Question 4: I don't know what to write, will you help?

That's exactly what the workshop is for. I'll give you gentle prompts to get you started and I'll be there the whole time.

Question 5: Do we actually write the letter during the workshop?

Yes. The writing happens in the workshop, together. You'll leave the workshop with a letter written in your own words. All you need is something to write with and something to write on.

Question 6: Who will receive my letter - and whose letter will I receive?

If you choose to send your letter, it will go to another woman from the workshop - someone who has sat in the same Zoom room as you, who has written their letter at the same time. She won't know your address and you won't know hers - everything goes through the safe PO Box system.
